Proven Refrigeration Technology
EXEL plate heat exchangers are based on the proven technology of the French air conditioning system manufacturer CIAT. As CIAT and VAU Thermotech had an intensive business relationship for years, VAU Thermotech was there as a specialist for plate heat exchangers. It was therefore a logical consequence that VAU Thermotech acquired all the machines and know-how in 2014 when CIAT was taken over by the US UTC.
Applications of EXEL-Series
EXEL is available in five different sizes and thus covers power ranges up to 1,000 kW. The maximum number of plates varies between 40 and 200 plates depending on the size. EXEL heat exchangers work reliable in a vacuum and up to a maximum operating pressure of 42 bar and an operating temperature between -196° C and 225° C. All products are completely helium-tight, have the CE-marking and are approved in accordance with the AD2000 Pressure Equipment Directive.
Design of EXEL Plate Heat Exchanger
Brazed Plate Heat Exchangers consist of serveral layers of stamped stainless steel plates (AISI 316L). The plates are joined to a plate pack which is brazed with 99.9% pure copper in our high vaccum furnace. Depending on the size the following connections for refrigeration are available:
Manufacturing of EXEL Plate Heat Exchangers
From stainless steel coil to the finished heat exchanger plate - the heart of our production for brazed plate heat exchangers are two fully automated production lines. Our hydraulic presses have a press force of 650 t and 2,000 t and have been individually adapted to the production of our brazed plate heat exchangers. In our state-of-the-art vacuum furnace the stamped plates are brazed with 99.9% copper. The result is a compact and pressure-resistant heat exchanger.
